Comments:

For this first MNBBA, point counts were conducted in atlas blocks from 2009 to 2013. Breeding lakes are not named, only blocks with confirmed breeding (evidence or observation of nesting, nest building, nest protecting, eggs, chicks, etc.) were selected from the interactive map. The largest lake within these blocks were entered so lake name or an area of lakes if not clear is an estimate. Block T122R46a.

Comments:

The Minnesota Colonial Waterbird Nesting Inventory was conducted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources from 1977 to 1980. The reports include Western grebe colony counts of each year (except 1979) but only 1977 and 1978 have individual breeding lake survey numbers. This one had 300+ pairs X 2 for individual numbers. The 1978 report does not report this lake's Western grebe numbers for the year 1978 status is uncertain at this lake. The 1980 report summarizes colony status for 5 colonies but does not name them so is entered here as a statewide entry with no breeding lakes named.
