- These coordinates are for Arrowwood Lake because it is unclear which waterbody out of the complex of wetlands at this refuge is referred to in the grebe breeding record. Arrowwood NWR is a complex of wetlands that comprises a chain of refuges stretching from the Canadian prairies down to the Gulf of Mexico. It is a very important site for migratory birds on the Central Flyway.

This area is within the breeding range of the Western grebe where it is considered locally common. Considered one of the larger colonies on record in the state though only number of adult pairs (X 2 for individuals) is estimated.

Comments:
Larry Igl confirms that Western grebe (or Western and Clark's grebe) colonies were at this lake in the past. No years nor further details or whether grebes still breed there. Larry believes that there are probably more ND lakes than is listed here that support grebe colonies.
