About Open Invitation

Open Invitation was made possible by the University of Idaho Library. The podcast was recorded and produced in the U of I Library Studio, located on the first floor of the library at the Moscow, Idaho campus. It’s hosted by the Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning (CDIL) utilizing the Oral History as Data template.

If you’d like to explore podcasting or already have a project in mind, consider booking the Studio for all of your audio and video production needs.

Open at University of Idaho

Open Invitation is just one of the Library’s many efforts to support all things open access on the U of I campus and beyond. In Season 1, our guests discuss their experiences applying for funding from the U of I Open Access Publishing Fund. This biannual fund helps to cover article processing fees for research published in qualifying open access journals.

U of I Library also offers support via:

  • The development, maintenance, and promotion of CollectionBuilder, a static web framework for creating digital exhibits used around the world
  • The U of I Pressbooks platform
  • Library-sponsored Fellowships for creating and publishing digital scholarship projects, open educational materials, and non-traditional theses
  • VERSO, our Esploro-based Institutional Repository, which hosts preprints and grey literature
  • Open journal hosting Open Journal Systems
  • Static web hosting for digital scholarship projects

We look forward to exploring these areas in future seasons of Open Invitation, as well as other topics related to open access more widely.
